SPE2-WV3D: Vietnam Central highland Veteran trip

The Central Highlands cover the southern part of the Truong Son Mountain range and comprise the provinces of Lam Dong, Daklak, Gia Lai and Kontum. The area is home to several ethnic minority groups with only about two million people, but has always been considered important due to its strategic location: close proximity to the Cambodian border, the Hochiminh trail and national route 1A. During the Vietnam War, considerable fighting to place in this area, which is now renowned for its cool climate, beautiful mountain scenery and tribal culture.


Day 1: Dragon Mouth & Plei Me
Arrival in Pleiku City, check in, drive to Ham Rong mountain ( Dragon Mouth ) to visit Camp Enari - the former Headquarter of the 4th U.S Infantry Division, stop over at Catecka plantation - the former operational areas of the 4th Division, en route for Camp Pleime - the former U.S Special Forces and overlooking at Iadrang valley. Dinner and overnight at Pleiku Hotel.
Day 2: Kontum & Dakto
Breakfast, drive to Dakto to visit Phoenix Airstrip - the former Airbase of the 4th Division. Lunch in Kontum. Visit the Wooden Catholic Church, Vinh Son Orphanage. Stop over at PleiPhun village en route from Kontum to Pleiku to learn the Jarai’s traditional custom and culture. Dinner and overnight at Pleiku Hotel.
Day 3 : An Khe -- Hon cong Mountain ( one day )
Breakfast, drive to Mang Yang to visit the Dektu village of Bahnar Minority. Stop off at An Khe to visit Radcliff - the former base of the 1st Cavalry Division on the way to Qui Nhon or to your next destinations.
