IN9-CCB5D: DONG KROLOR - KRATIE - KOMPONG CHAM -
KOMPONG THOM - PHNOM PENH 5 days/4 nights
 
Day 1: Dong Krolor- Stung Treng (L,D) Proceed through customs and immigration at Veunkham immigration check- point (At the moment, it is not possible to get the Cambodian visa at this border; travelers need to get it prior to arrival). Welcome by your guide on the Cambodian side and departure by road to Stung Treng (alternatively by boat from Veunkhan 1 ½ hours navigation by speed boat). Arrive in Stung Treng and lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon, visit Stung Treng, located just 50Kms south of Laos, on the banks of the San River, just off the Mekong. It is a very quiet provincial city, showing us the authentic and remote “face” of Cambodia. Visit the small village of Thala Barivat on the other Mekong River side, crossing the river by speedboat. Dinner at local restaurant. Accommodation at Sok Sambath Hotel (2-star, best available).
Day 2: Stung Treng - Kratie(B,L,D) Breakfast at the hotel. Early morning, departure by overland to Kratie. Arrive in Kratie, a small colonial-style town and transfer to the hotel.Lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon, visit Wat Phom Sambok to see the Buddhist monasteries and to enjoy the magnificent views of the surrounding countryside from the hilltop. Continue to reach the site of the river dolphins and observe the dolphins until sunset. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at Oudom Sambath Hotel (2-star, best available).
Day 3: Kratie - Kompong Cham(B,L,D)
Breakfast at local restaurant. Departure by overland to Kompong Cham. On the way to Kampong Cham, visit a pepper plantation and Chhup, a rubber plantation first established in the region by the French tire maker Michelin. Lunch at local restaurant in Kampong Cham. Afternoon, visit the silk-weaving village of Prek Chang Krane by boat (if the water level permits, otherwise by bus). After returning to Kampong Cham, visit Wat Nokhor with its ancient temple and modern style pagoda (12th century) and tour of Kampong Cham to view examples of colonial architecture. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at Mekong hotel**
Day 4: Kompong Cham - Kompong Thom (B,L,D) Breakfast at hotel. Depart by car to Kompong Thom, En-route, visit Wat Kohear Nokor (11th century). You will also visit the nearby village and its pagoda where you can observe the daily life of the monks. Continue to Phum Prasat with its single ancient temple and the nearby modern pagoda Arrive in Kompong Thom and lunch at local restaurant. Depart Kompong Thom for Sambor Prei Kuk. Enjoy traditional daily life scenes of rural Cambodia. Visit the ancient capital of Chenla with its 100 temples dating from the Pre-Angkorian period. Return to Kompong Thom for dinner at local restaurant. Accommodation at Stung Sen hotel (2-star, best available).
Day 5: Kompong Thom - Phnom Penh(B) Breakfast at hotel. Then, departure by road to Phnom Penh. Arrive in Phnom Penh and transfer to your hotel
